Reactions to union minister Giriraj Singh's racist comments seem to have no end. Now, British filmmaker Leslee Udwin, who directed the controversial documentary on Nirbhaya, says that Singh is "no better than a rapist", reports CNN-IBN.
"This really sickens me. The hypocrisy of mini mouthed, unthinking comments by those who say my film gives platform to rapists, but why has Indian Parliament for many years, given a platform to politicians making such misogynist comments. They are no worse, no better than Mukesh Singh's comments," Udwin told CNN-IBN.
The Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Singh on Wednesday had joked whether Gandhi’s "white skin" was what helped her claim the top job in the Congress Party. He also added that if Rajiv Gandhi had married a Nigerian, things would have been different.
Singh later said that his comment on Gandhi was made "off the record" and added that it was being presented by the media in a different light. "The things that are being shown by the media were something that was said was off the record. People say many kinds of things at home or outside. The way it was presented is a different issue. But If I have hurt anyone's sentiments including Sonia ji and Rahul ji, I regret what I said," he told ANI.
