According to reports in a variety of online newspapers today, Manchester Unitedgoalkeeper David de Gea has told his teammates that he's off to sunny Spain. There's been no word on whether the parting was an emotional one with with embraces being exchanged and handkerchiefs dabbed, though TBB rather suspects not.
According to the Telegraph (which itself, it should be noted, cites other reports) "sources close to United have claimed that De Gea has already said his goodbyes to team-mates and club staff at its Carrington training ground" ahead of his reported £25 million move to Real Madrid.
If United are to sign a new goalkeeper, the two likeliest candidates remain either Chelsea's Petr Čech or Tottenham Hotspur's Hugo Lloris, though it is perfectly possible that Louis van Gaal will be happy enough to put his faith in Victor Valdés, who is both young and good enough to be a Premier League starter for a few seasons yet.
